I'm not trying to bash the fish, I'm aware of its tank requirements and stuff but I thought this fish would be full of personality like everyone said , it literally hid behind a plant for the whole week and refused to eat. Returned it and got myself a Black Moor, guy is already eating and way more active and friendly. I can see why Goldfish are so popular in the hobby. In love with them. <3

You should have gave the Oscar more time to feel comfortable in its new environment.

agreed, 55g not big enough for an oscar, and hiding not a good sign, little Oscar should be all over the tank, bright eyes and begging long as he only one in tank. All ways be worried you bring a little 1.5" Oscar home and he aint face planted on the glass begging.

Definitely something wrong with the Oscar, it shouldn't hide at all lol most of my previous Oscars if not all of them start begging for food within few hours in my tank.

i'd have to disagree with this , Oscars are the biggest BABIES when it comes to stressing after being moved....I never saw a juvenile Oscar that didn't take a few days to a week to start feeding. You just put them in a new tank and they lay on their side for days like it's the end of the world. Even had a 13" Midas - big vicious male tried to kill everything in sight, and I moved him to a bigger tank twice the size w/ 100% his original water and the same volume filled the 2nd half w/ fresh water and he wouldn't eat for a week after that. ....and that was a big mean adult - meanest fish I ever had
