+1, why did you get rid frank, I love mine...
Member on here will I am breeds them, he might be able to sort you some fry.

are those the same as pike cichlids?

I think I'll pass, they seem stupid as **** more aggressive than they are able to locate food.

aggression and penis length isn't my goal. I want cute babies, low maintenance and cool factor (scientifically...hence senegal bichirs before)

Well that's a bit harsh, obviously one of my favourite species, got a right way with words aint ya....
Guess I'm all aggressive and just concerned about penis length then pmsl....!
Just get yourself some rope fish and tiger barbs and be done with it to then lol...
They arnt pike cichlids they are an African riverine species of the same family as red jewel cichlids.

I didn't mean to offend, I'm just used to people in my city being like "oh you only have a captive bred male bichir? Well MY bichir is XXXX inches bigger" and I'm kinda grossed out by the whole who has the most aggressive fish concept too.

My sincere apologies, I just mean that I don't want some super crazy fish attacking my hand, attacking anything etc I just want something reasonable for this 45 gal.

Your fish do seem stupid though, they seem to want to slap fight with other fish over eat a yummy shrimp (based on videos)

Ah I acknowledge the logic of your suggestion but angels are really ugly to me. It makes so much sense though, I don't want to be like "screw you for that!" but I just personally really really dislike angels and their dumb stupid faces. I do like their different personalities.

Is there maybe a single fish I could keep in this here tank? I had this single bichir for 8 months happily.

Edit: really, super great suggestion. I just have an irrational dislike of angelfish.

double edit: I've never considered them. Ugh, I was leaning towards the shell dwellers but now I have more reading to do (happily.)
What are the dimensions of your tank? You may be able to get away with a Blood Parrot or two. Blood Parrots have more personality than any fish I've every owned, and great color on top of that.

You may change your mind about Angels if you can find some German Blues. Blue Marbles are also good looking Angels.

Forgot to mention, Blood Parrots will rearrange the tank to their liking. That includes decor, substrate, airstones, filter intakes, and even plants. You may want to use glue or weights if you go with a blood Parrot.

you have a great ability for choosing fish with great personality that I find hideous. Blood parrots are probably my least favourite fish of all time.

Damn it man! Why do our aesthetics need to be so far apart.

Butterfly fish?
