Cichlid for 65G...ideas?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea same diet, jaw and teeth types, chisel tooth,, maybe slightly smaller then pearsei but still a big fish.

A bocourti would outgrow a 65 in less than a year, and would need to be upgraded to an over 200 gal tank, and would eat every plant in it. They easily reach 15", and mine ate java fern, anubis and even 3ft papyrus plants roots and all. I figured papyrus might be safe, because is like eating cardboard, they demolished the one below.

mine went from 2" juvies to 7" in about8 months, and still weren't mature

I would pull dandelions from the yard to keep up with their plant jones

Thanks for the real info...so much conflicting information out there. Honestly quite a few references stated 8" and fine with tough plant species. lol

What is the opinion on a Flier Cichlid? I do like the bocourti and these offer a similar look in a smaller package.

Have you kept them duanes? Looking for a cichlid which isnt scared of everything and has good personaility. I see Rapps has mated pairs up for sale as well so I may opt for a pair.
