Of course its possible, yes. Thats how High Back Goldens for example came out. Cross between a Crossback and an RTG = HBG pretty much.

I really dont know when an asian Arowana reaches sexual maturity.
Look. Asian Arowanas are quite aggressive. They attack and even go as far as to kill eachother when in small groups! Some people have multiple Asians in their tank without separation, but thats always 6 or MORE Arowanas. Thats okay in most cases, but less than 5? Never. Dont do it. It wont end well. And then again, you cant just keep a male and a female together, they might not like eachother and kill eachother.
Also, its impossible to tell 100% if its a male or female unless you tested them for it. There are some ways to tell it like by 60-70% at best, but I wouldnt fully trust that.
I wouldnt do it though. Either a single asian Arowana OR 6+. And for 6+ you'd need a really, really big tank.
Haven't heard of any successful breeding of these arowana outside its original country. In those countries also farm breeding taking place in a sophisticated, controlled environment, in large ponds. They says it's very difficult to breed these species, even after breeding, successful spawn is further less, and that is why the prices are up that much. There are some YouTube videos available, just watch it.
I have also heard that most of these farms do some 'treatment' to the fish so that they don't breed outside, which will affect their business. However I am not sure if it's true or not.
From what I know there is no point wasting you time for attempt to breed, in an aquarium.
Just keep them, watch them and enjoy the beauty.

Wow so you mean they kinda "sterilize" the Arowans they sell or something like that so that they wont breed outside their farms?
If thats true, which could be true, then those people dont even love the Arowana itself but are only after the money.
I have no heard of sterilisation in the industry but however limited the chances are there is still a possibility.
There have been cases of aquarium / hobbyist breeding success in ie. Japan etc but its rare but not impossible. I have had mine lay eggs many years ago but it was a lone female so the eggs were never fertilised.
Visual sexing of Asian aros isn't a exact science and difficult at best unless it's a known pair or proven pair. Gold aros mature quicker than Reds. Typically maturity is reached by golds within 3 years and reds longer.
