White spots on my parrots. Please advise?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
*A complete life cycle for ich in high temp is 72 hours.
*82~84 temp is just a point to stop parasite spreading out more but some strain of ich won't or get kill at 84 or 86 temp.
*Keeping the temp around 84 might clear it first time but if it make a come back later on you won't able to kill them cause its already adapted to that temp point and harder to kill with temp and salt so beware of that.

I usually treat my fish for ich at 82-84, I get nervous above that. I fear I might be boiling the poor fishies haha. Also remember to take out any live plants if you raise the temp that high most will melt. I do agree about the extra aeration and salt though. Slowly increase the salt concentration over a few days. If you have to do a water change also remember to replace a proportionate amount of salt from what you take out. You should vacuum every few days during the treatment to get any dead/living ich parasites off the bottom of the tank. Plus the extra clean water will help them recover sooner.

Also continue the treatment for at least 2 weeks. Sometimes you will think you got it all and it might pop up again once the parasites complete their lifecycle. Usually if you catch it early though you shouldn't have any problems.
Thank you

89F is the temp at which the parasite dies. based on scientific papers. Anything below just speeds up the cycle. Raise the temp to 89F at least for a few days.

Hello everyone! Noticed small white spots in a few of my parrots? Is this ICH? If not any guesses? Any suggestions on how to proceed? Water parameters : ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm, nitrate 10ppm and pH 7.2. temp 82f and just adjusted to 86 just in case. Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi guys! So I read the ick sticky and combined a few of everyone's suggestions. I went with raising the temperature and grabbing some.ick attack. Followed the directions and 5 days later no more white spots. As directed and suggested here on the forums I am continuing treatment for another week. But so far so good! Thank you again to everyone who chimed in. Me and my not so little guys appreciate it!!!
