New fish were shipped Monday, arrived Wednesday. Wednesday night and Thursday they were timid* but swimming. How they are just hiding constantly. I can't even see them. Should I be worried? Anything I can do to help?

Humid?
Sounds normal to me though. Just let them do their thing. They'll eventually come around. That or be shy forever. I've had my convict for a year and half and he's still pretty shy lol.

Ha, that should have said "timid," not humid. They don't even want to come up from behind the large rock I have... I'm okay with shy, but I would like to see them every once in a while.

Ah haha. I knew you didn't mean humid. But I couldn't figure out what autocorrect did.

Some fish are annoyingly shy. Like my convict. He hides 95% of the day. But considering you haven't even had these fish a week I'd say it's normal behavior.
What are they?

I would be less concerned if they had hidden from the beginning. I only worry because it seems like a backwards step. They're A. rivulatus (green terrors).

When my convict was the size of a dime he was out and about all the time. But as he's aged he's become more shy... fish are strange.
The couple times I've took a swing at rivs, they were pretty shy for a while. Both of them were about 2-3" when I attempted to grow them out.

I only ever had 1 green terror but he wasn't shy once he matured. Yours probably didn't know where to hide until it got comfortable in the tank. His spot is now like the comfortable chair in the room. My shy cichlids learn to be more gregarious if I feed small amounts of food many times a day. They learn that they'll get food when I'm sitting in front of the tank and eventually come out looking for it. Green terror though, probably get to be almost as big a beggar as an oscar in time!

These are around that size as well. What happened to yours?

They are not yet eating :(

I'd just make sure the new additions have good places to hide and give him some more time. I've had fish go a week hiding and not eating. Any longer than 7-10 days, I'd think about plopping them in a hospital tank for closer observation.
