Hi guys/gals. So, as many of you know, I started up an aquarium for Parachromis managuensis and ordered a pair from Jeff Rapps. If you're ever looking for great quality he's your go to guy. I've had them for about 2 days now and they're eating blood worms but won't eat Cichlid Gold mini pellets yet. I even tried a small amount of flakes and I saw one spit it out so it might be a little bit until they get acclimated. They're always together unless they're hiding. They're skittish as you can imagine but they do come out from time to time. Here are a couple photos for now. I'll keep this thread updated with pictures from time to time. Good looking pair. I would stop feeding bloodworm until they start taking the pellets.

Thanks!

They'll only want to eat worms if I don't, right? Yeah, I better not get that habit started! I think after them not eating anything else I just wanted to see them eat to make me feel better.

Edit: Now that I think about it, seems like they won't eat anything that floats? My LFS didn't have sinking pellets.

That first picture is so good.

Oh thanks!! If I'd clean my glass and get the lighting right it'd be better. I love when they flare their dorsal fin. One in particular gets feisty and swims around really fast and when he comes to a stop he flares their dorsal.

Sure hope they turn out to be a male/female pair.

Very nice!

there are much healthier frozen foods you can give in the meantime like tilapia, silversides, clams, krill, etc

Thanks!!

They are amazing, so much potential.

Thank you, I'm going to enjoy watching them grow.

Okay, so I've always wondered this and this is going to sound really silly. You just go to the grocery store and buy this, right? Not a special food at a LFS? And is it bought at the seafood counter or can you buy the frozen? Also, I gotta get these two eating Cichlid Gold first. They just swim right by it lol. I'm going to try breaking some up and throwing it in there. I think it sinks if you break it up.

Also, they are STILL hiding a lot. I've never had a cichlid hide like this.
