ok...first let me state my goals(or non goals). I'm not trying to build muscles. I'm not trying to gain weight. I'm just trying to have a higher protein level in my body. My dietitian is on my case that everytime I do lab(bloodwork) that my protein levels are low. She has suggested Chicken,Red Meat, Eggs and Whey protein powder.

My levels are still low. I'm getting tried of hammering these foods all the time with little results. The other problem I have is a very strict fluid limitation. So the whey protein powder is basically out the door.

I have tried protein shakes before and they make me sick(I usually throw up an hour later).

I also have to limit my sugar intake so yogurt is not always an option.

Are there other things out there on the market I'm overlooking?

Thanks

So if your trying to build muscle but not gaining weight is extremely hard. You can't build muscle without without having some fat. You can tone the muscles u do have by cutting but that means dropping your calorie intake and doing high sets at low weight. Ok back to your question. Your protien intake depends on your goals. If your just maintaining muscle 1 gram per pound is sufficient if your trying to grow 2 to 3 grams per pound, When I'm not maintaining and trying to grow I try for 3 grams per pound and a 4 to 6000 calorie daily Intake. You can't grow without food. So start eating

Lol,he already said that he is not trying to gain extra weight and has no musclebuilding aspirations,he just wants raised levels of protein per his doctor.
Borg, looks like you will have to eat a little of the prescribed foods in each meal.Since the supplements make you sick perhaps you can try some of those protein "candy" bars that are sold in health shops....wonder if they still make Tiger's Milk bars lol. Most of those bars are pricey though.

with the dietary limitations you have I vote you hammer hardboiled eggs for every meal, every day. Between chicken, turkey, lean beef, cheese and eggs I barely ever have to smack a protein shake unless I need to skip a meal. Look into protein bars like krich suggested, a lot of those are geared towards powerlifters and body builders and as such are made with little to no sugar or extra carbs.

what type of shake are you drinking that is making you sick? specifically brand/flavor, and with your fluid lims are you mixing it with less water, or milk?

Duh I should of read the whole thing before my muscle brain took over lol. Ok here's a simple way. Grilled chicken and white rice. Eat multiple meals more than three. I have buddies that compete all they will eat is chicken and rice. It's minimal fat high protein and carbs.

bro-meals, especially for someone who isn't looking to lift or gain any mass, are way too boring lol.

I agree. I need flavor in my meals. I've done it but chicken and rice gets boaring fast
my go-to meal was ground turkey in rice. I'd eat egg whites and hashbrowns for breakfast, shake and turkey rice for lunch, lift, shake and turkey rice for dinner lol. I'd throw oil in the breakfast meal to hit my fats.
