From what i see a canivore animal or fish has faster metabolism compare to plant eaters. I know algae wafer wont hurt but being as a staple wont be good either. Canivore fish need meat for their growth and their health. Incest, canivore pellets, and raw fish provides calories,vitamins, and protein etc. to help the grows healthy. Just my opinion.

I'd be very hesitant feeding polys algae wafers at all...I'm no expert but a mainly predatory fish shouldn't be eating plant matter regularly. My assumption would be the algae wafers smell good to them, maybe the recipe has krill or something in it, which in turn causes them consume them. Stick with tilapia and carnivore-oriented pellets.

that makes sense. Algae wafers probably don't have a high protein or calorie count at all. Thank you! Never thought about the metabolism thing. Sounds right to me!

Plus from what ive learn on other fish that are bottom dwellers that they are cold blooded fish and they need fat and meat to keep their body warm at all time. Idk if that will relate to polys but what i think is that they need high protien which i dont think algae wafer can provide.
