55 Gallon in need of stocking suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Right now I have a 55 gallon in the process of being set up. Dimensions are 48¼ x 12¾ x 21 (L*W*H), filtration is an Eheim 350 Classic canister filter. I'm staying freshwater with this one, so the main two criteria I'm looking at are either a sort of mini monster or a semi-aggressive/aggressive community. Any suggestions?

In one of my 55s, I've got a pair of adult angels, a pair of SAEs, a little young keyhole cichlid and 3 zebra danios. Just a few fish, but a lot of activity. The keyhole is a ballzy and funny little thing.

Maybe a single larger cichlid like a jack Dempsey or green terror (don't go for anything bigger like an oscar they really need a bigger footprint than a 55 had to offer) or a a pair of something smaller like convicts firemouth salvinis ECT.

Jack Dempsey maybe, GT get too large in the long run really

Personally Id do firemouth. Just a better overall environment. Though IMO Id take a 40b over a 55. I just think 55 is small.

Angels would actually work well for this, taller and more narrow tanks work for em. The height is really great IMO
