Just picked up this little guy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah mines already acting like he's starved. He even took food last night like 2 hours after I put him in the tank. Definitely not acting stressed what so ever

Congrats on your pick up individualy at shops here they run $20-$60 depending on the store.
They are awesome fish I have one big male and 8 juvaniles at the moment (snagged a bag of less than half inch fry back in october for 12 bucks) The juvies are all around 2.5-3 inches now. Very active fish with a lot of personality.

Yeah. He's still a little skiddish so I can't wait for him to get more comfortable

Put some tankmates for him....this helps him in adopting new environment :)

Yeah there 2 mollies and 2 rasboras in there that I was using to help cycle the tank that he's not a big fan. There going back to the fish shop tomorrow when I pick up my 2 rainbows (herotilapia multispinosa) but he's settling in pretty well already gets excited during feeding and claimed a spot in the corner haha

Nice EBA. If you get a pair they should spawn fairly quickly. From my experience they are one of the easiest cichlids I have ever spawned.
I bought four and got lucky and ended up with two pairs. The first pair spawned two weeks after I got them.
I just did frequent water changes and fed them live worms.

What kind of worms did you feed? I'm thinking about bloods but kind find anywhere around here that has live. Also about how big were they when they paired because I'm fairly confident the one is a sexually mature male.

Earth worms, Night crawlers and Red wigglers. I live in a very rural area and just collect my own. Or buy from a local that sells them for bait.
I just chop them up in bite size chunks and feed them a piece at a time with tweezers but you dont have to do it like that. Thats just what I do.
I chose to do it like that so no certain fish would get to much at one time, they will over eat if you let them.
