My Hoplias Malabaricus jumped out of my Tank last night. I found it dried up on the floor this morning. I just changed lids on Tuesday and there was enough room at the back for it to get out I guess. I didn't think they were known as jumpers.

My mala hit the lid so hard that it died.
:(

Yes I had this happen with wolfs before. I then changed the lids to perfect fitting so all intake and outtake pipes went through holes. There were no openings just small holes for gas exchange. At night I could hear the fish smacking the lids of the tanks

While lowering water to move some fish to a larger tank my old mala looked like a trout going upstream. They're awesome jumpers unfortunately.

That really blows. So many nice fish are lost that way, I have had my fair share.

Between faulty heaters and gaps around the lids, it is a wonder anyone has fish to post about. It always reminds me of how precarious a situation it is keeping fish in a glass box.

Yeah it hurts too lose fish that way because it is on us and we are able to prevent it from happening..I learned my lesson with my 200 gallon =/ now my 300 gallon nothing will be able to get out haha probably just a guppy through my overflow area but I don't do feeder fish, so I'm all good =)

Yes I've had a few get out of the smallest openings the arowanas as well the owner said I'll never grow one to full size because they will some how get out my aro got to 27 inches and wolf about 12 before they made their escape

Guess I have been lucky...
Long long time ago I had 6 common wolfs and I can't remember them jumping.

Now I have a red wolf and so far it hasn't jumped once...

But I still make sure to cover all the openings, just in case.
