I was hoping to start the filter up by placing the intake and return lines on the main tank, then once primed, switch off pump, shut intake and return valves and move the intake and return lines down to my sump, open the valves back up and restart the pump.
Make sure you fill the filter with water before putting the lid back on and restarting. I just started mine up with no issues. Although I don't get FLuvals measurements. After all this the lid of the canister is sitting a good 6" below the water line. Filter started up just fine.

Given your nice setup to be, do yourself a a favor and get a heater controller, if you hadnt planned already. Hook those heaters up...it's inevitable.

Absolutely. I bookmarked allot of the hold theads i peppered you guys with questions on. Was reading the one on controllers last night. I gonna get the ranco with two recepticals also is shrink wrapping the probe a good idea ?
