Hello, I just received a baby red tiger monoguensis cichlid( from a reputable source) he would almost still be considered a fry being born beginning of November 2016, just curious how long you guys think it will take before he picks up some size???? he's all alone in 45 gallon and the temperature stays a constant 82 degrees

thanks for the replies, my goal is to get him to 2 inchs by march

Growth rate mainly has to do with your frequency of water changes, the more you change, the more often will determine a lot. If you change 30% water once per week, it will grow slower than if you change 30%every other day, especially in a small tank like a 45.
Mine grew very quickly from 2"to 10" ( in about a year) with every other day 30% water changes.

of course females remain smaller, and mine only made it to about 6"

Agree with Duanes, but it can take along time to get them to the 2 inch mark
