Heard Ray prices are going to increase substantially... true?

I heard from the owner of one of my LFS that stingray prices are going to go up significantly this year because they're going to require CITES permits to import and sell. Is this true? He had a couple medium sized reticulated rays (6-8" disc maybe?) on sale for $139. Just wondering if I have an excuse to try out a ray, or if I should continue to resist the urge as I have done thus far.

If your gonna try a ray, I wouldn't bother with retics, they are not a good beginner ray. Go with motoro or one of the black rays. Prices on those rays haven't changed much, most are captive bred

True. I did ask what they were eating and I think he said Rosies?? One of the black rays would be amazing, but my dream tank (8x3x2) might still be too small for them.

That's what my lfs in Vancouver also said.. He sells motoros for $300, gonna rise in price, hystrix are like $500 for a pair, gonna go up... Leopoldi $1300 each, gonna go up.... Teacups like you said will be like $140 now or something?

Price of living goes up?

I don't think prices are going to double or anything crazy. Prices have always fluctuated and always will.

8×3×2 is ok for black rays...bigger is always better, but that's still like 350 gallons

Wild Caught rays out of columbia (specifically Marble Motoro) and Brazil (black rays pearl rays) will increase because of the cites listing. Peru stuff ( motoro and the otorongo stuff) should stay the same as well as captive stuff....
