New Aquarium Stocking Suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Go with one group of 8-10 tetras I would say.

Angels I would either go with a pair or group of 5 or so.

Gourami are probably best individually and are probably not best with a lot of other fish bioload wise

Khuli loaches and cory cats are both highly social and a group of 6 or more of one of these species is probably best.

Rams are probably the best out of those, but basically all of them need lower PH and soft water. Although I think those will work

That's my thoughts on the list :)

Haha. Mine loves fish.

But I'm 15 so I need to worry more about my mums thoughts on my tank amounts than the GF. Lol
Haha Im 30, I dont care anymore.

I think that they wouldn't be best in that, they may wear their barbels. Maybe you should do some more research on their substrates.

Good thing you are upping things for the oscars :)

Fishkeeping is my passion and main hobby and I enjoy reading and researching about it. I have spent a year actively learning and giving out some knowledge on this forum. Only learning from the best. I like to know what I'm doing in fishkeeping and more
Hey again! Lol So this is the substrate I have. It says its sand but not too sure if its actually sand tbh. Would this work u think?

In my experience Angels do better in even numbers. They tend to pair off, even if they're the same sex and have no intent to breed.

For color you could try a couple Electric Blue Acaras.

Black sand is easier to deal with than white/tan, but gravel would be the easiest to clean. Sand gets sucked through the gravel vac when you're trying to clean it, while gravel doesn't.
I don't ever need to clean my sand. Current does a great job at keeping the sand clean and I just stir it before WC

It's a different story trying to get enough current to not have dead spots in a 7 foot tank without having too much for the fish.

Some laetacara species would do well in that tank. They're peaceful, stay small, are beautiful and are a little less common.

Alright sounds like a plan.

So were doing 2 Angelfish
Group of 10 cardinal tetras
6 Khuli loaches
and lastly 6 Bolivian Rams as B Bandit87 suggested

Not sure if you have any experience with the catfish or the kuhli but I already have some substrate that is similar to sand but almost a crushed gravel. Would this be ok?

And I just redid my basement to put in 2 100 gallon tanks in the wall. One side is South American with 2 oscars, 2 jack dempsy, 1 green terror, 1 red terror, electric blue acara, and a firemouth. Of course I will have to upgrade the tank soon or get another one to house these fish. And then the other side is African tank with a mixture of around 35-40 mbuna cichlids.

Assuming you don't already own those fish, drop one oscar and the red terror and you should be okay long term, unless those JDs decide to pair up. I'd be careful with larger cichlid pairs in a relatively small footprint.
