Heard Ray prices are going to increase substantially... true?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Breeders have also been anticipating the CITES listing and may of increased production of CB rays and could actually bring down the CB prices.

Not necessarily as easy as just increasing production...

I've been importing rays, Asian arowana, and other exotics to the Vancouver area for almost 10 years, mostly using a group buy method. A recent ray import: http://www.arowanaclub.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=6668

If you are looking for something special contact me by pm.

I do anticipate ray prices going up a wee bit due to the CITES paperwork, but that could be offset by increased supply at breeders. I put demand in the US as stronger than in Canada due to the economy. Ever since the oil price crash a few years ago high end fish demand has really slumped in Alberta. This has contributed to lower prices for high end exotic fish for all of Canada I think.

One problem with the new CITES regs for stingrays is that this means it could be very hard (if not impossible) in future to sell rays from Canada into the USA. Thus, we could be looking at a split market for a while where stingrays are generally cheaper in Canada than in the USA.
