He was over 13" at 5 years old and still very slowly growing.
I kept him in a 400ltr tank (approx 100gal) and he needed an upgrade still. He was very messy when he ate (although he also shifted through the gravel afterwards and "cleaned up" after himself) and I needed large water changes twice a week to keep his water clean. There was only him two silver dollars and a bgk in the tank and it still took a lot of maintenance.
Beautiful fish but very smart and get very large, they need a much bigger tank than a 55gal.
Post Script: sorry for always posting the same pic of him guys, I cant find the memory card I have with the others on it... My photos of him are becoming fewer and fewer
