Any Bonsai tree Keepers?

Bonsai out of control. Branches got up to over 6 feet tall. I filled the trash can and this is my rough shape with hand pruners. I'm going to have to break out the power tools to finish. Trunk and branches are too thick. See the can for reference. Right now it is a little over 2 feet. Would like to get it to 18 inches by grinding the top of the trunk.

That looks like it will be very impressive once you are done pruning and reshsping it...can't wait to see it .

I have 6 to reshape and need to work fast because the new shoots (branches) starts emerging in Spring. I want little girly branches on this monster trunk.

Called it a day. Sap from black pines are so sticky...gets all over. Pine needles hurt a lot when they stick you too. Gave it a 50% hair cut and it still looks full.

So,are you going keep that one in the ground?

They are all in ceramic bonsai pots. All but one have broke through and split the pot. Every few years I saw under the pot to severe the tap root. I may leave them in the ground or put them in bigger bonsai pots. Pots require a lot of watering and maintenance. I don't want them to die in the pot.

Interesting,can you show the others?

It's night time here now but I braved the cold 68 deg to snap a few pics.
They are all over grown. Wall behind is like 6 feet.

All have been trained for a lot of years. Not like the first one, I got several that have their trunks twisted. Here's my "twisted sisters".

The pot for the black pine pictured above.

Trimmings. Branches are up to 1" thick.

Wow,I now see what you mean when you said that some of the roots have cracked tge ceramic pots. What are the age ranges?

The black pine I got as a sapling. Bent the trunk and topped it. Had it for around 25 years in the same pot.

The others are chinese elm. Also had them for about 25 years but was purchased as bare root from China. They claim they were twisted and trained for 25 years. I don't know that to be true. The trunks were 1 1/2" when I purchased them from the importer. Tops have a straight cut. Obviously they were cut and pulled out of the ground.

I'm at the age where if I start any new bonsai trees, I will not be around to enjoy it. Takes a long time to get a nice aged specimen.

Yeah,it's either that or break the bank and buy one.
