A really nice red betta of some sort... they have major attitude and can come in some nice reds...

Missed the part it has to go into your monster tank... then maybe that pike chiclid thats red and yellow... saw it recently but cant remember the name...

Atabapo Pike Cichlid

Red Bay Snooks might work but I don't think it'll be as Red as you're looking for.
Red devil/midas cichlids might be an option.
Red spotted severums look pretty amazing.
Red Texas Cichlids also look amazing.
Red Oscar?

A pair of red jewel would fit for him cause these red Jewel easy fit on small aquarium and it's hardy and easy breed too. I'm really sure he will jump around once he saw a bath of fries and he will tell everyone about that in school, friends....etc. It's a joy for him! Other species would fit for his "father" rather than for him
