New salvini broken tail??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The salvini gene pool in australia is very small and I assume that may be to blame.Out of the 3 salsalvinis I purchased the other 2 males seem good. The female I originally had is about 3 years old do you think that they should produce healthy fry as even if they are related they should be many generations apart.

do you have any pics of the typical adult look produced by the genes carried in the australian pool? what does your adult female look like?

sorry, I'm just very interested in salvini breeding. (in Canada myself) Will post up to date pics of my growing set of 6 sometime soon.

Here is a pic of one of the other male I received. He is approx 3" and still coloring up. Seems like a good specimen at this stage as I know males can take a while to color up.

Here is an older pic of my female. I cant get one at the moment as she has been hiding and nesting ever since the males entered the tank. She is a little less yellow now and has a lot more blue spangles.

he looks great to me so far. they definitely take far longer to colour up in my experience - my females are reaching gorgeous status but only one of the males (the largest) has really developed much, and he is still very dark comparatively.

I like the females look too! Yours has much more yellow than mine, my females are nearly solid red beneath the lateral black midline. (rio chacamax genes)
