that's not the concern - the problem is, if your Gator Gar contracts some type of disease or parasite or something in your aquarium, you could actually HURT the wild populations of fish if you release because they would then be exposed to that disease or parasite or whatever.
Chances are good that they will have no immunity to fight it off and ONE released aquarium fish could be responsible for wiping-out an entire body of water. For example, a lot of reptile owners are not aware that you should NOT keep Boas and Ball pythons in the same cage, or even the same rack unit or IMO, even in the same ROOM.
the reason is that Boas have a high chance of carrying a certain pathogen that reptiles from South America have a natural immunity to and are not hurt by it because they evolved around it. When this pathogen infects a Ball python or Asian, African or Australian species the result is usually fatal. Snakes from other continents have no immunity or resistance to it so it really takes over them quickly - think of it like an advanced AIDS patient contracting a nasty strain of Pneumonia BUT it's virtually impossible to know what the problem is because animals can't talk and it's all internal.
Make sense?
Now, how do you think the native Florida species would react to a pathogen your Alligator Gar contracted from a tank w/ fish from both South America and Asia AND Africa?
You'll do way more harm to ecosystem by releasing him. Yes, maybe he/she could get a spawn off but the chance of parasites, possibly nonnative being introduced is high. Its the #1 rule in native fish collecting...

You need to start paying installments on a 300g dd for the dovii and sell your other monsters till You can actually house them.
Theres only a handful of private aquarium in the world who can house an alligator gar and rtc properly...
I know what it's like to want all the beasts, most of us went through that stage and also got told to sell the baby monsters we had.
It's not cool that your dovii murdered alias of fish. You need to get the others out of there as soon as trouble starts with dovii.
Rd and dovii have bred before and tbh they are generally ugly mishaped fish, it's hard enough selling normal baby fish and finding them good homes let alone a mongrel fish That can hit 17-24 inch.
99% of people who can afford to house one get decent fish for their decent tanks.
If you want to do it fair enough but just grow a couple out for your own enjoyment and cull the rest and do the fish and hobbies a favour.
A few years down the line try rtc or gg once your more experienced and understand the commitment.
I heard that you are also a teen like me, I suggest keeping manageable fish. One day your parents won't be supporting you as much and you need something you can sort out yourself. Just a word of warning
Then yea when they get to big I'll sell them on offer up or something like that or bring them to a LFS thanks for clearin that up. I don't wanna be responsible for gator gar diein out

You are naive my man. Very few people buy large tank busters like gar, and it's irresponsible to dump that responsibility on an LFS. You are not wanting to contribute to the extinction when the gar may just be potentially wild caught.
