My 2 year old dumped his Cap'n Crunch in the fish tank. It's A 55 with a 8 inch jar, fx5 filter. I did a 50 percent water change last night should I do another?

I happen to enjoy a nice bowl of Cap'n Crunch,I have been known to wipe out an entire box in about three bowlfuls but I don't have gills or scales and we all are well aware of just how persnikedy jardini can be.

for the future, maybe follow in the footsteps of reptile keepers and put a locking mechanism on the top of the tank so it doesn't happen again
No it doesn't.They are already prone to having attitude issues without any extra help.
