Hey everyone! been lurking for a while, but just pulled the trigger on an account.

I have a 135 gallon that needs to be stocked. It used to be a planted community tank but I tore it down to redo the plumbing. Decided to change it up a bit.

I tend to really like "prehistoric", predatory fish. An aro is my dream fish, but the tank is too small... one day. Bichir's tend to be on the pricey side ($120+ for the smaller breeds where I am.... go canada).

A jag would be sweet. Anyone have experience with these that wants to chime in? I'm okay with a species-only tank.

Some of the more exotic options (wolf fish, snakeheads, lungfish) are hard to find where I am.

Any other suggestions?

And because I know it will be asked... my tank has a wet/dry sump with a turnover of ~1000gph.

Thanks!

I would do a jack Dempsey, geophagus and any other fish of your choice.

Catfish community perhaps with a Lima shovelnose,a pair of eclipse catfish ,royal farlowella and banjo cats and a black ghost knife etc

That's it? I haven't seen them locally in a long time (Victoria), and spencers doesn't have them. Maybe I'll have to make a trip over.

I like the catfish idea... any suggestions for mid-top dwellers to go with?

Pink tail chalceus is a good upper dweller, they just need space. And they are very fast eaters somake sure everyone is eating well.

Mine hit 3.5" very quickly from 1.5", maybe 3/4 months on light feedint and slowed a bit after that.

If snakehead legal to your country then I would hunt down a pair Channa Aurantimaculata, you won't regret that decision :)

Man, those are gorgeous. Not sure if I can find them, but they're at the top of my list at the moment.
