They are hit oriss it seems. If the knife is your favirote i would consider selling the ornate and getting some of the polys mentioned. Or you could try adding more polys to see if it helps spread the aggression.

Btw mine was a p.i.t.a but only towards other polys

Ya I think I'm going to end up trading him for a Senegal and a cichlid but I have to be careful with cichlids too

Definitely depends on the fish. I've heard ornates can be more territorial than some of the other polys. If the knifefish is passive and constantly being beaten up, I might rehome the ornate if it is getting aggressive. Especially if you are really attached to your knife. African knives are cool. Or add other fish. Is this a new behavior of the ornate?

That's not african, that's a bronze featherback.

Also African browns rarely breach 8" in captivity. My duo haven't even grown a full inch or so in 8 months...
