Anyone else keep Rainbow Chiclids (Herotilapia multispinosa)?

Both of mine will get really dark if I annoy them too much, but it seems to be a lot easier to annoy the female, which is why every pic of her shows her dark.

Your more yellow ones seem to have better fin edge coloration, but it may just be that mine are younger.

I had a pair that eventually spawned about 9 times, I kept the first couple of spawns and let the tank mates take care of the rest. Still have 9 babies, they would go from that bright yellow to dark and to iridescent blue as they pleased.

I got mine from PetSmart, so it seems that Segrest should carry them.

Thanks, that is his normal colors. He either gets brown or light yellow.

They are some beautiful little peaceful cichlids. I spent years asking around at LFS's based on looks alone and finally found a pair at PetSmart and I'm really happy I snatched them right up. I'm really surprised they're not more popular, just like you seldom see Cryptoheros sajica or Thorichthys ellioti in stores, at least around me.

Are they easy to sex ? Any clear signs of how to sex these at the fish store

They're both a bit bigger and the female filled out a bit. She wants to breed right now, hence her coloration.
