Getting the 75 ready. Here is my check list.

1. figure out my substrate. I want to buy red garnet but I really want black sand :(
2. order sunsun canister
3. tomorrow I'm picking up the wood and building/staining the stand
4. get tank on stand in office
5. wash out sand and toss it in
6. seed canister filter
7. fill up the 75 and get about 15 shiners
8. wait a couple of weeks to make sure the canister took the seed well and ensure cycle is good
9. BUY POLYS

what does seeding a canister mean? (someone who has no idea about canisters, who is about to get a sunsun)

I like the stepwise checklist! Gonna be a fun project.
If you want black sand get it. you can always change it out and go red later if you wish :] All about personal preference!

I'll take pillow stuffing type material out of one of my other canisters and place it into this new canister so it will start out with bacteria basically instant cycling my tank.

The light I have on the 125 is 48" so I'm going to use it on the 75g so I need to buy a 72" light for my 125. I was thinking this. What do you guys think?

Lolz, that the light that i broke in half two weeks ago, i was so mad that it made my poly pale white. Bit i think you should be good if you dont have a iron glass top cover. I leraned my lesson, stick with 48" led light for a 6' under tank and buy a fully adjustable led light like sattlelite pro, so you can costumize the brightness and color. But its really up to you. That light i think its nice for cichlid light to bring their color more, but for poly i dont recommend it. Plus poly like dimmer light, and that light is too bright.

Yeah, I was worried about the fact that I couldn't dim it. I need something cheap. Think the satellite is the cheapest route that would dim?

Also, why not have a 6ft light?

I dont think anyone make 72" light no more, only beams work. I know DMD123 DMD123 he use two 36" for a 8' tank, J jaws7777 use 48" in his 150g. Finnex full spec can be adjusted same for sattelite pro plus.

This beamswork says it's at 10k. I thought that spectrum was for marine? I know for plants I shoot for 5500-6k.
