Thoughts on this red bass

Yup. As the others stated...86-87 is what i like as well for juvies.
Once they hit 10-12" or so is when I feel comfortable keeping them cooler, 81-83.
And as bOOsteN aUdI bOOsteN aUdI states...temp controllers are key! Helps tremedously with heater failure etc. ANd they aren't spendy...$70 or so.

Also if you do a search on water parameters in the rivers where these fish are found here's a couple of examples the xingu river is found to average 84 to 86 degrees the lower xingu river is higher 87 to 91 degrees this is more than likely why Gangster and Boosten are telling you 84/86. Now because I'm a brokopondo lover researching that it tells you basically the same water temps at 5 to 25 meters in depth 84/86) but the 0 to 5m depth the temps average 88 to 91.5 degrees I would have to assume that's where you would find smaller bass in the shallows and this is just from various sources online and from what I remember of the top of my head there is also info for all water parameters too if your interested in digging in further (this is where the hith discussions come in for larger bass). It doesn't mean that these fish wouldn't tolerate lower temps or be detrimental to them, this may be why you are getting so many opinions on what temp to keep your bass in. But the sweet spot is 84/86 degrees.

Some of those black rivers' ph are as low as 5.1 +-

I never seem to find info on the rivers temp wise. I was looking hard when I was keeping rays. Even large bass are in the shallows. They have the option to sink into cooler water if they want. I was looking for the ray temps as I know damn well it isnt 86 in the bottom of the 30' holes they can be in.

I know it is all ment to help. I just have been lookingnat my azuls and how sweet theybare looking at the 76-78f tank and doing great. Then look at the others that are doing well also and failing to see any real reason to be on the hotter side(not counting feeder ich issues of past).

I am going to back the temp back down a bit. As it hasn't really helped the xingu eat more. I think that was the main concern.

Back on the original topic here is the 2 spot pattern it normally rolls when it isnt in fight mode.
