Hi folks of the cichla world... Im new and a beginner to keeping and raising monster fish but I really want to get into raising some peacock bass... Im wondering if anyone of you know a market place or someone who is selling small 1in-3in peacock bass (does not matter what kind and type of pb) for a good deal or a group deal... I currently have a 40gal breeder... Not sure how many pb it can hold but would like to use it to grow out at least 4 for a while until i can get my bigger tank... Any advise or information would be much apprecitated... T.I.A...

I would suggest you hold off until you have a larger tank. Peacocks grow really fast. A group of 4 would quickly outgrow that tank. I understand the desire to start monsters without having a large tank but its best to hold off.

Even at that. The growth rate of these things is pretty impressive as in most "monster" fish. Starting in a 40b is no problem if you already have another larger tank to put them in. The problem is in this hobby a lot of new people come in and they get bit by the bug for a bit and they buy fish that will easily outgrow their current tanks but then quickly get out of the hobby. When that happens you have a lot of people trying to get rid of some fish that only a small part of the hobby really want to keep. I wold say before diving into monsters you wait till your in the hobby for a bit and know your gonna stay in it.

its not a matter of adding more fish, its how fast these guys grow, and how much waste they produce
