Good plant for my sump?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Choices are endless, only limited by your imagination.
Below is one of my planted sumps, the plants area is a large matt of cryptcorne

below same sump during a water change

I also use planted sumps that sit between the main tank, and the sump that holds the equipment (pups, heaters etc)
I usually put them where they can get sun, with plants like papyrus (umbrella palm)

and because these intermediate sumps get heavy algae growth, thats where I put fry, after removing from the parents

In some of the same type intermediate sumps, I raise shrimp

i have anubias, hornwort, java fern and moss as well as pothos. for fish i have 3 spot gourami, zebras, platties, and bristlenose. they are all breeding populations except the gouramis. i also have a group of cories and another of khulis

Your sump sounds like another tank ...envy

I just added 2 small lucky bambo to the baffles, have a couple of small lettuce , floating hornwort and water sprite in the last return chamber still thinking whether should add fishes inside or not worried about the poo in the return chamber.

Your bristlenose poo alot inside?

I was wondering what is a good plant that needs no light bc I have my sump In my stand ?

With the mts I never see any poop but now I'm going to need assassin snails!
It is basically another tank (or two) but I can always claim it's the filter, I have so much bio for the 450 that I don't think the fish in the sump even make a blip

I got this little desk light you think it's enough for some plants ?

That lamp could work especially if you used a screw in LED grow bulb. The plants will grow better with a red/blue LED grow light and it'll be much more energy efficient than a CFL bulb.

I use two modified clamp on lamps like that to grow this pothos. I've used regular CFL bulbs on this most of the time. I'm going to use the filter for anaerobic denitrifying bacteria so this pothos experiment is coming to an end soon.
