Hello, I have a jaguar cichlid, it is about 8 or 9 inches I'd say. Named it Don Quixote when I first bought it, am now afraid it is a female, and am looking for confirmation. Was really hoping it was a male, as they are much more attractive physically to me. I have read that the vertical stripes are indicative of females, however I have also read that lack of is indicative of a male as they age, and I am just not sure of the fish's age, and when they stripes disappear on a male. Would greatly appreciate any opinions
