Comming up a little short on stand length

So I have a table that I have strengthened to support fish tanks. It is exactly 48 inches long but has a curved edge so the actual flat space is 46 or 47 inches. My question is if I should/could support a 55 on this as it will overhang roughly an inch and a half. most of its length will be fine it is just the sides that won't be. I know I can fit a 40 breeder on it just fine, but is their an unusual tank out there that measurers 45 inches long?

Perhaps you could place the tank onto the table so that both ends overhang a small amount.....or maybe place a sheet of plywood that is the length and width of the tank between it and table top.

I'm not seeing how you would wind up with nearly five inches of overhang on each end,by your post I thought you were dealing with a difference of one or two inches total.

My mistake, 55 was the gallons not length. Plywood still the best approach imo.

I have done the plywood in such situations on a few tanks but never bigger than a sixty gallon tank.I have such a set up going on now.

Three quarter ply should be fine, with a glass tank you could even run boards along the length to support the frame, we have done that before with a tank as long as all four corners are fully supported

Assuming it's only 1" on either side...

3/4" plywood that extends all the way under the tank would help provided the plywood is flat. There will still be a small amount of stress on the end seams (because the ends are still cantilevered), but it will be substantially less as the plywood will provide some resistance to deflection.

Yeah so the table is just above 47 inches of flat surface (with the plexiglass cover I made, with out it, it is just shy of 48). I have been considering a 75 as I can get one with a lifetime warranty, they are 48.5 inches long. I could do the plywood, how would 4 wood planks made into a rectangle work.

I have a 55 gallon on a 47 inch stand and I put the tank on it so 1/2" sticks out on each side and it has been like that for almost 3 years with no issue
