Hello everyone, I have 13 Odessa barbs in a 40 gallon breeder with a 2" Red Bristlenose Pleco. I want to incorporate a centerpiece fish, but am kind of stuck on what to add. I have a 3" Sajica in my 125 and I was thinking to add it to the 40. Question is, is the sajica too aggressive for such a small pleco and Odessa Barbs? If so, can anyone suggest another fish. I've tossed around the idea of adding Badis Dario, killifish, and even a betta, yet somehow they were all disqualified because of long fins, water parameters, water temps, etc.
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Is it male or female? Female I would say you would be fine, male more depends on the individual but worth a shot just keep a close eye on it.

dan518 dan518 I'm not too sure of the sex, but what I do know is that it squabbles with my temporalis in the 125. My train of thought was to make life easier on the temporalis while Lessing the bioload on the 125. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Thank you for the replies. @nwcichlidkeith I'm going to give it a shot, do you think I'm pushing my luck if I add my sajica and red jewel cichlid? Or should I just go with the sajica? Thanks again

Odessa barbs are great dithers for something like a Sajica. I don't think you'll have any issues.

Do you have any pictures of the Sajica? Usually the males have more red whereas the females develop more of a yellow coloring in their fins. That and the males get a good bit larger.

Adhlc Adhlc Excellent, thanks for the input. I believe it to be male because I do not see much yellow, however I will post a photo tomorrow, it's currently lights out. Do you think I would be pushing it with a 3" Red Jewel that is in the same 125 with the Sajica? I can add both at the same time and keep a close eye or do you think it's destined to fail? Thanks again

I would not put a red jewel and Sajica in a 40b. That's just me.

I honestly don't think your idea of putting a Sajica in with the Odessa barbs is a problem at all. I think it's a great idea.

My concern is still the 40b. If there are issues with the Sajica & barbs I would wager it's more a result of the confines of the tank than that particular mix of fish.

DarylMac DarylMac that's what I figured so the jewel will remain where it is and the sajica will be moved tomorrow. I will post photos after the introduction. Thanks again
