New Build ~ 600 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All of the equipment not being used on this tank is cleaned out and it's starting to look like what I had in my head. Grey, black and clean.

The storage bins to hide the sump pump fits together nicely.

Plumbing starts tomorrow. I'm hopeful to have it wet by this weekend.

Sick setup. Can't wait to see it run.

I am plumbing the Ultima's right now. While I work on that I'm hopeful to get some feedback on the below idea:

The plan was to have the sump to the far right. However it might be nice to have space to the right open for canisters or whatever. Easy maintenance type thing. Please take a look at the below and let me know which you prefer?

The thought is to move the sump to the center of the stand. The black box in the drawing is the server cabinet for my switch panel. The green cylinders are the Eheim 2260's. I was not intending to put canisters on this tank beyond the initial cycle but it would be nice to have cycled cans that are heavy on bio capacity though.

HarleyK HarleyK - can Eheim's be backwashed? If so I would do this but not if I am lugging around the canisters. Also do you know the hose diameter pieces needed to convert to standard plumbing?

The only Eheim you can backwash is the 2260 or 2262. Just don't use floss on top, or you'll have to open it at times to replace with clean floss. Floss doesn't backwash well.

Thank you for the feedback. How does the backwash feature work performance wise vs traditional cleaning? Worth the effort in your opinion?

Looks awesome bro seriously.

The eheim backwashing could help drain the tank but not sure if that applies or would be needed. I like it better with the sump in the middles...ya never know

Thank you. Appreciate the feedback. I think you're right. I need to move the sump to the middle. That will keep all the cords closer to the cabinet too.

Backwashing a canister can only delay the inevitable. Every once in a time, you'll have to open it up...

I'm searching for an alternative cabinet but I thought I would ask if you guys have any suggestions? I'm sure the marine guys like to put there nice equipment in cabinets etc... I messed up my measurements and cannot fit the cabinet I wanted between the stand posts. It was this one:

https://www.amazon.com/NavePoint-Ne...25&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=9u+server+rack&psc=1

I need to find a cabinet that is: (LxWxH)

Less than 20" long (front to back)
Less than 21" wide (side to side) minimum 18" for 17" switches
Less than 26" tall (top to bottom).
Has viewing window or clear door (optional but preferred)

Any ideas? pics because pics
