Yep. Pulled some zeolite and ceramic media from one of my fx5's before the trip. Using distilled water for the cooler since I don't have access to an RO unit

How do you like zeolite? What's the difference between that and regular carbon? I heard zeolite is suppose to be run in a media reactor

Are there rules about transferring fish across states lines?
Purely curious since I had a discussion with my husband earlier in the week about such laws regarding trees and fruit.
Love the set up you have going on. I think that's about as comfortable as a fish could possibly travel!

I love zeolite. I just run it in media bags in my fx5. Seems to work for me. Everyone is home now. Cooler worked pretty good. Stayed rigger at 72°F the whole time and the water was crystal clear with the 2 pumps running. Wasn't as successful as had hoped though. One bichir didn't make it and then I somehow lost both indos right at the end of the drive, literally checked them with 3 hours left to go and they seemed fine then got home and both were laying with fins clamped then died not long after. Not sure what happened to them. Still brought home an Ornate Bichir, Lima Shovelnose, Flounder, Silver Datnoid, a spunky little Tire Track and a Royal Clown Knife. Overall a successful trip. I couldn't believe the difference in price from socal to Utah. Everything is easily 4x more expensive here. Paid $30 for a 7" rck, the store I usually go to here sells 6-8" ones for $110, don't even get me started on dat pricing I about had a heart attack seeing how cheap they were there. Ended up buying more than I planned but I couldn't get over the pricing. Figured it was worth it even if I end up having to sell off some of them here in Utah.

If you know what you want to get next time, you might be able to call the shop a few days ahead of time and have them set the fish aside for you so that they can fast them for a few days prior to you picking them up. That should cut down considerably on ammonia.

Yes! You have to search online or call Fish and Game Department in your state for the list and laws, some animal, fish species, fruits, veggies are legal to your state but It become illegal after you cross the borderline and same goes other way around when you entering your state borderline.

Did some water testing on the transport setup and nothing was too abnormal. I think the water was changed and turned over enough to avoid ammonia because it was all minimal. Contacted the store the dats came, we'll see if there is anything that can be done. I have family coming to Utah in 2 weeks so I might be able to get them replaced somehow.

First in tank shot of one of the new guys. Little Silver Datnoid. Doing great and already helping to diminish the guppy population
