Hello; That looks like the ones we have here. Hard to judge the size. It threw me for a moment because they do not get big here until the fall and it is Spring here tomorrow. Yo uare going into fall.

That will be a female I think.

Many years ago when I was in the 5th or 6th grade I found some foam like mantis egg housings on branches one fall. I took the branches with the egg in to my class room and the teacher stuck them in an open jar. We then forgot about them.
One winter morning when we got to school the mantids had hatched. There were a lot of them, maybe hundreds. They were all over the room and small. Maybe a 1/4 inch or less (maybe 3 -5 mm??) They were catching and eating each other. Pretty much all the boys caught a few and played with them on our desks. Some of the sharp girls did also. Some squealed and acted silly.

I used to find mantis egg cases in my back yard pretty often but I have not noticed any in recent years.I also used to keep them as pets when I was a kid and I would feed them grasshoppers and crickets that I caught.

We get big mantis here occasionally, 2 inches or more

Hello; Interesting. The ones around here can be longer than two inches. I am thinking maybe four inches. ((maybe 10 cm?)
Those occur here as well, I caught some that size before

Hmm, mantids here get about 4". I love them as they eat the nasty bugs.
I used to buy the egg sacs at home depot for 3 bucks and wait months for them to hatch.
Haven't seen any in years though.

That's cool, I see chameleons from time to time and in summer there are geckos everywhere

Saint Patrick day, put a good dent in a hand of Jamesons between me and the wife. good Irish whiskey, cheers to those that are.

Put down probably 2 handles worth of Jameson over the weekend with friends haha, good times being Irish and all haha
