Stingray and water change

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Be careful of ghost shrimp. They can carry parasites. You may want to think about treatment with prazipro if your ray poop isn't normal...hopefully others will weigh in on this. Myself, I'd be concerned

Brown curlers are healthy. Pale white and stringy could mean something is wrong. Our stock always evacuates their bowels after water changes, I think it's the change in TDS or osmotic pressure but it never fails they always poop massively with an hour or two of a water change. Frustrating timing, I used to think they were smart and did it to spite me, but I see pups do it too. This is my guess.

Rays have a very primitive stomach. The food that comes out isn't fully digested compared to other species according to Dr. Ross. I've found other species love to eat it like pellets. I've also found that rays like to eat each others poop or their own. I haven't removed poop from an adult tank or pond in years. It always disappears eventually...

My rays, a pair of motoro rays about 10" disc size, always poop just after water change and I have to do it again.

Usually about 30% water change twice a week

I seem them poop and it's alot....

Just wondering, do rays poop after water change or is it only mine which love to make me do extra work.
All creatures/pets/humans are the same, best toilet experience when it is spotless and odourless.
