Advice on my new Cat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Been adding salt to my tank since I got these and after some water changes. Not measuring exact but the fish seem to be happy.

still alive? try increasing the salinity and alkalinity. apparently some are found coastal, they just caught a few near the ocean.
It's still with me Wes, still not eating though. I added regular Aquarium Salt like kno4te has but still no go. I'm guessing since you mentioned alkalinity though you're talking Saltwater Aquarium Salt. If so I may have to see about getting another tank because I had divided a tank for the Nodosus so he wouldn't be bothered but don't have anything open except for a quarantine/sick tank.

Glad to hear it's still alive, we still have hope, proving to be a tough fish

Looks the same but the head shape seems a bit more pointy and not as round. Head is more elongated. The pattern on the side looks right. Mine is at 4 inches now. The one on pcf is 5 inches. IMG_0365.JPG

Looks to be the same fish, the nodosus, and also from Suriname that Ben "Amiidae" is asking about: http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=44901&p=304576#p304576
Guess I'm going top have to make my way over to Planet and have a look. Thanks Viktor.

All you guys are awesome, thanks for remembering and checking in. Nodosus still hasn't eaten that I've seen the raw part on his nose never healed but no more excess slime for awhile now. Never swims unless disturbed but despite not eating he doesn't look emaciated. Though I've seen that in Driftwood cats before. My Trachys, Gulpers and Jags would occasionally fast without looking like they losty weight. Though only the Trahcys have been able to do it sometimes over a six month period while everyone else it was maybe a month and a half maybe two.

I've been looking for shoaling cats that might help him feel more secure to no real avail. Since Wes didn't get anymore Nodosus in I was looking at Schilbe intermedius but couldn't find any. So I tried what I could find Pimelodus albofasciatus and ornatus. Still no activity and the Nodosus doesn't seem any more secure.

Still I got to pick up some cool cats the Pimelodus Ornatus and albofasciatus I already mentioned, as well as picking up a Pinirampus pirinampu, Mystus wolfii and an unidentified Batrochoglanis.

So maybe it is on a hunger strike. And sounds like you made your way over to Jeff rapps stock list ;) lol are all those pick ups in the same tank?

That's what I'm hoping but I'm still not sure the Nodosus will make it.

Nah, some of them are far too small to be put with the others. Plus I never add that much stock to one tank in such a short period of time out of fear of a spike.

The Pinirampu are in a 40 breeder with the Batrochoglanis and 2 Galeatus Wood cats. The Nodosus is in a 75 with the Ornatus, Albofasciatus and the Platinum Scherzeri. And the Wolfii in a 75 with a Crenicichla Multispinosa and Crenicichla Macropthalma. At least they are for now. I'm waiting on some things and depending on what happens I'll either be moving to Georgia and buying a house and setting up a fishroom or will be moving things around here and trying to get some bigger tanks in my apartment. lol No worries I'm in the Projects so I've got concrete floors.
