Hello; A long time back the Gov. actually handed out food. The folks who were eligible for the food would show up at a distribution center. Others would be parked nearby. The food would then be sold for cash at a much cheaper price than a store. The cheese and butter was especially sought after.Heard on the news earlier that some people have been placing ads on Craigslist to sell their EBT cards.....I shouldn't be surprised.

I think later actual stamps were given out and the real food distribution stopped. The stamps (food stamps) were traded or sold again at a discounted price. For example I don't think the stamps could get tobacco products, so they were traded/sold for cash. I assume we all understand that cigarettes are more important than food for their kids.
I am surprised that selling the EBT cards is something that can be gotten away with. I sorta thought the cards are similar to a debit card, reloaded from time to time and with identifying information.
That said, I do not know how it works. maybe there are fake EBT cards around. I guess there will always be a way to scam the system.
Yep and I have actually observed people in shopping centers trying to sell Access cards which they are also called and that is bad enough but I just find the Craig'slist angle to be so bold. Not on EBT, but WIC, which is similar. there are no names on the card, just a card number on front and a mag strip on the back. yes there is a PIN# associated with it, but if youre selling the card, PIN would go with the sale I presume. And even when going in to get it reloaded, no need to have the card with you.
