I have a Barred Midas named "Puppy Dog" - he no longer deserves that name as he has gone from being extremely passive to the tank bully. Anyway, he never really shows his bars - until tonight when we saw my Yorkie, Bruno. The bars would instantly appear as the dog got close and instantly disappear as the dog left. He and Bruno had a good go at it - quite the show. Enjoy the pics. Midas 1 4-10-2017.jpg Midas 2 4-10-2017.jpg Midas 3 4-10-2017.jpg Bruno 4-10-2017.jpg

That's awesome. I used to have a dovii that never flared up at me but would try to attack my 7lb mini dachshund any time she was in the room lol. Good looking fish and tank by the way!

Funny thing with dogs and fish tanks.. my Doberman is fascinated with my 220g and the fahaka sits and eyes balls him right back. It would be adorable if I didn't have uneasy feeling that my 90lbs of Doberman is going to try and launch himself at the tank! He is only a year and prone to doing stupid things to get my attention. Awesome tank though.. do Red Devil and Midas all have the bars when juvenile? As I have a 2 inch Red Devil (supposedly) that has large dark bans across it?

Very nice fish and cute pup. What species of convict is that big guy in the back, siquia?
Thanks - the convict is a male HRP from Rapps - it is different from any other HRP I got in the batch from Rapps (bigger and more red tail, and more platinum than blue body). Believe it or not, it is currently trying to breed w/ a Freddy at the moment - would be an interesting mix.

Thanks - yeah, that could be a bad deal w/ a doberman. I have trained my dog which tanks are glass (they get to attack) and which are acrylic (bark but no touch). No on the bars question - my barred were barred when little and my colored were orange/white/mix when little - just less intense.
How do you like your puffer? I've heard they have great personalities - can you keep anyone in with him?

Ahh you train them this!? I am still struggling with not chasing people on bikes! He is very friendly but when he can catch a cyclist from behind going down hill... it kind of worries people.
Below is a picture of my Red Devil, I got it from a fish shop I have never been to before and just picked it up to grow out.. what do you think it is?
The fahaka is awesome! I have had her now for 2.5 years and she is huge, the length and width of a rugby ball. But she is very friendly and is in a community tank with a large oscar, frontosa and 2 snakeheads. I am growing out the Red Devil to eventually go in the 220g with them (a long win a few others as options) as trying to find Suitable size tank mates to add was too difficult.
