Help, no power or water for 9 hours today!

i ran a heater this morning to get the apartment temp up to 25 Celsius. Outside temp today is nearing 22 Celsius so that is why I said I am not too worried about temp. Its good to hear that even after 3 days your fish were okay. I feel better about the 8 hours today.

I will be home in 3.5 hours so I will post a quick update letting you guys know who things are

I'm I had this happened but it was actually for 48 hours. I had to get a genarator because I had 4 tanks all in a basement with no Windows! A small generator or air pump would do.

Just fine. My discus went 10 ours before a filter got back on and there was nothing I could do,
Luckily they survived

A battery air pump is never wrong. However with your small bioload you should be fine. Another idea would be a battery operated fan( if you have one), directed at the waters surface.

Battery fan blowing on surface is genius idea .. I'll remember that for my next power cut

A water change mid day will also help if you're water is gas heated

sounds like he's nearly through his black out so any further posts will just be informational.

I used to live in an area with frequent power outs in the winter. A battery operated pump, some way to insulate the tank. I used a set of heavy shipping blankets draped over the top, back, and sides to help retain heat. Just watch for condensation. The blankets will suck moisture if given a chance.

Then, of course, some sort of heat source for emergencies. I had a propane powered mr buddy heater to help hold the room at about 60. I had 7 tanks totalling about 800 gallons of volume that were at 80* prior to the 3 day outage. The smaller tanks lost the most heat but the 300 stayed 75 just from the sheer mass.

1 day you should be fine.

Large sponge filter with battery operated pump that turns on when electricity is off, but normally operated on a pump that is run with electricity. I have the sponge filter in my tank, hidden with driftwood. Can't even see it. I like this as a backup biofilter within the tank in case a power outage stops flow to my sump. Will only costs you $25-$30 total. My 2cents.

power was out for nearly 11 hours, temp dropped from 77.8 to 75 over that time. I noticed no labored breathing or signs of stress. Once the power came on he was at the glass ready to eat as he normally is.

I don't know how much beneficial bacteria could of died off in the fx6 I have but hopefully the cycle will remain in tact.

I'm sure it's fine. Of course there's nothing wrong with just watching over today and tm to be sure. It held its temp well.

I got no power while I'm at work all the time and its duration from 1 hour and up to 8 hours and longest 14 hours, I never loss any fishes nor bio system messing up, if you water quality in good condition then you should not worry too much, I also own saltwater and no power would impact my system a lot more than freswater but its still doing fine after long hours of no power, no water current.
