My FH is approximately 4inches. I don't know if he has a potential. Correct me if I am wrong. I think he is a male ZZ with an ORANGE base. I am also worried regarding the color of his scales because it is not crispy or bright in color and I am not also sure it if is fading or not. Also the color of his KOK, like dark in color I don't know if it is normal or not. I only give him OKIKO platinum 3x a day. Then I siphon all the wastes every morning (approximately <10% tank water) then replace it with tap water then put stress coat. I maintain his temp between 27-28C. Hopefully you can advice me on how to improve his color. Thank you in advance!

Is your tank fully cycle? You don't need too siphon the waste everyday. The waste help keep the beneficial bacteria alive.

My tank is not completely cycled and I do not have yet the testing kit. My fish tank's capacity is 25 US gallons and my FH is currently around 4 inches. Soon enough I am going to upgrade my tank to a bigger one. Thank you!

Spectrum Super Red, and Sera Discus Blue will bring out his colors immensely. Also switch it up a bit for him with krill/shrimp/BW/live foods. FH are not picky, and will be much happier to chase something around from time to time. This is just my personal experience, my FH got ick and went down real fast. I haven't found another worth buying yet.

Do not feed your flowerhorn live fish. The weakest part of a flowerhorn is its stomach and live foods can, and often do, lead to stomach infections which can then require strong medicines and injection procedures that are not fun at all to have to do to your fish. Plus live food will be very bad for your water that hasn't cycled yet. Stick to a quality pellet containing "Wheat Germ". Hikari Bio Gold Plus or Hikari Blood Parrot food is a healthy pellet that will also help reduce waste in your water.

Hi thank you for your recommendations and I am sorry for hearing about your FH. By the way, I have already tried giving him prime krill by ocean free. It's the one manufactured in a can about 100g. But my problem is he spits it out.

Thank you! I'll try Hikari products soon. What do you mean that it will help in reducing waste in the water? Does it mean he will poop less?

As of now i feed him about max of 5 pellets each meal (2-3 meals per day) combination of:
humpy head + sakura OR
humpy head+ ding jihong OR
Humpy head+ okiko platinum
Soaked in vita gold plus

I agree. Stick with prepared foods only. Shrimp, fish, beef heart all that stuff not good. I've lost a few feeding that stuff. Hikari pellets work great for me. Why endanger the health for more color. . . . if that even helps? Who wants a pretty fish that is sick or dead
