Captive PBB Photos and Observations

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Since this is a thread about CB PBB, here is an update on mine. :D

It looks female, but still early to tell for sure.

I Like the pattern, but disappointed in the pectoral fin shapes, they look damaged from the youngsters nibbling on each other in their larval stage. They are probably raised with not much protective cover, just a bare enclosure. I could be wrong.

The dorsal finlets look great, nice and tall and good shape.

Headshape looks good too. It's not fully settled in yet, so we will wait and see if it has the star pattern on operculum the way Pbb and other LJs have.

My LFS had one by himself in a tank full of cichlids lol. One of his eyes was missing. I don't know if it was the cichlids or from wherever he came from before that.

I actually don't know if he's WC. From the info. I've gathered it says none have been bred in captivity so I figured must be WC

Back on topic, what are your opinions of the headshape?

It has 15 dorsal finlets, not perfect, the first one leans forward a bit too much, another indicator that it's commercial bred.

Zilch Zilch has yours colored up more since you're a day ahead of me?

Any pattern showing on the operculum?

I'll try to snap some more shots tonight, it's gotten pretty cozy behind the filter with the moke so it's getting harder to get a great look
