go planted -green is a simultaneous contrast to red nothing brings out red better than green and planted tanks are always the best looking
No but he is from dallas I bought some long fin green dragons from him 5 years ago and he showed me his next great project which was adding the long fin gene to the super reds by crossing them with long fin calicos and breeding out the spots which he has done an awesome job. When I got back into fish in December I contacted him to see how it was going and he said he had finally gotten the results he wanted but hadn't sold any yet and had no plans to sell them locally because in the dallas area plecos don't reach the prices they do in the rest of the country. Well I was able to talk him into selling to me and I ended up with 9 unfortunately I had an unknown toxin in my tank(I'm thinking pesticide) that killed my 3 juvenile blue eyed bristlenose(1 had been dead for a couple days before I added the super reds) and 7 of the 9 super reds. I finally got the toxin removed after 4 large water changes and new activated carbon in the filter.
He is currently trying to restart his zebra breeding colony which his breeders are now past breeding age. He is also trying to breed claros(lda008), L397s, along with 8 other species most of them striped. He had approximately 12 tanks of long fin super reds
the breeder read your post and told me yes he is the guy from Texas that Rachel O'Leary got the short fin super reds from and yes they are awesome
i remember the 1st time I went to his house 5 years ago he was in the process of downsizing and I'm guessing he had over 60 tanks and as he was showing me around and showing me all these rare pleco's that I had never seen I was in awe. He also had a giant acrylic tank I was planning on buying from him super cheap but unfortunately I had to get out of the hobby for a while but when I got back in I contacted him again and he is now in the process of upsizing again and has some amazing fish. I eventually want some of his claros when he breeds them
