Thorichthys panchovillai.

Great fish mate.
Thorichthys will always be a firm favourite for me. There's just something about them I really like.
As usual lately, seeing your pics makes me think, what have I done.

Thanks Darren. There will always be time to keep them again.
They have grown a bit since these photos. Since the move from the 36g to 150g the growth has been much faster. I can't take pics now because of the glare I get from daylight, but I will take a few more later.

Thanks! Do you have pics of the green and gold?

I'd have to see if I can find my old photobucket account, or check one of the old computers I have at home just sitting in a closet lol. The greens I didn't have for very long..can't remember what happened to them to be honest...probably lost them when I had to move out of my house. I lost a lot of fish due to that move. :(

from what I remember and from one pic I remember seeing online, the mixteco greens look pretty much just like the blues but the spangles are more of a greenish color than blue. otherwise they look very similar

same here...which is kind of odd because I typically tend to prefer cichlids that grow thicker, bulkier bodies with nuchal hump like most viejas, amphilophus etc. thorichthys are the biggest exception to that. I think it's because, in general I feel that they are completely underrated because of how long they can take to truly reach full adult color. I think most people give up on them too soon assuming they're not going to turn into anything special when they simply need to be more patient..which admittedly can be difficult at times.

I agree with this. Even your common firemouth can be a very impressive fish when full grown. They get very colorful as adults. I like to keep fish for the long term because of this.

It's funny you say that, because I just did that today. After years of not logging in lol.
