Bichir is swimming near surface, do i need to worry?

Its pretty normal, i would be more worried about the pbass and aro eating the poly.

yeah my ropes are always hanging at the top I also have floating dish scrubbies they like to hide under. I originally put them in there from a mature filter to help jump start the tank but the fish seem to like them so they have stayed.

Seeing that aro I was also worried about the poly being lunch

Sen will be sen, WC or CB they are one of the most active species in all the polys, from UJ to LJ no one beats sen when it comes to activeness.

It could be just that he's settling in.

Had my Senegal Bichir's for a month or two now and they are always active and swimming around they are around 6 inches. Definitely normal behavior of a Bichir in a clean tank with good oxygen levels from my limited experience. Mine seem very happy.
