Standard 125 Gallon tank

2 Green Terrors (M/F)
2-3 Severums
6-8 Clown Loaches
1 Black Ghost Knifefish
2-4 Fancy Plecos

May or may not do the fancy plecos. Stocking wise I'd put the Ghost Knife in first, let him have the tank for a few weeks, get him eating well then I would introduce the school of clown loaches followed by the Sevs and last the GTs (Sevs and GTs I may put in together if I get from the same source - looking at Rapps as he has some Sevs I wouldn't mind having). Everything will be 2-4" when introduced into the tank (so no fully grown adults).

I would suggest getting the clown loaches first quarantine them before adding any others. Clown loaches are mostly wc and must be treated for parasites especially internal.

I completely forgot about this. Thank you very much for the heads up, I'll do this first so they get a nice long quarantine period while the BGK has the entire tank to itself.

the loaches are also prone to ick in the way people are chicken pox apparently, so make sure you sort that out if I'm correct there.

tbh I think that will be VERY full later on

I would keep an eye on the gt's. As they grow and pair off to breed.
They may give your Severums a hard time.
I think eventually you may need a bigger tank.
All of those fish have the potential to get pretty big.If the gt's behave I think your good for a year, maybe two.

Besides the clowns getting large, which will take years to do, what are you seeing as a potential issue for needing a larger tank?

I've kept a breeding pair of GTs in SA/CA community setups many times over the years and never had issues. I am well aware that my own experiences are really limited which is why I am asking for others thoughts and opinions.

If the pair might become an issue I may just grab a single male.

The knife fish could reach 20 inches the Severum and gt's could get somewhere near 12 inches plus the clowns, your 125 will start to get alittle congested.
Breeding gt can become aggressive as space becomes limited, especially when breeding.
Like I said before,I think your good for a while but as things start maturing I think you will need an upgrade or a re stock.

If you want this to be permanent I would do one GT and lose the knife. Breeding gt's can work, yes, but a solo one would be problem-free, a pair might eventually cause issues. The knife just because they get huge down the line.

Yeah you guys are right, breeding cichlids are just too hard to predict. Okay, so will have one Male GT and probably 2 Sevs.

The knife I'm going to look into a bit more before I totally scrap it from the tank plans. Min tank size recommended on here is a 75g. But going to do more looking around before I make that call.

Clowns I'm thinking 4-6, not too concerned with these guys because if they get big enough to be a problem, well huge clown loaches are like gold in this hobby, so I don't feel like I'd ever have an issue trying to re-home them to larger tanks if needed.
