Hey guys!

Saw these two new species at my LFS, does anyone know what species these are?

The silver fish looks like a golden dorado but without the tail markings

The striped fish looks like a mix between a leporinus and distochodus

Thanks!

Could be distochodus

The silver fish look like a species of brycon and the striped fish must be some kind of cyprinid. They seem to lack an adipose fin which distichodus and other characins have.

Brycon species, similar to dorado but much easier to keep

Good eye. They do lack an adipose fin, so they're cyprinids. I don't know enough about the eleventy billion species of cyprinids to ID them however lol

Also worth pointing out that they stay a bit smaller, too. I call em lite dorados lol :)

Very true. I also forgot to mention that these are very aggressive and should be kept in a school and with other aggressive fish such as leoporinus, Oscars, Jaguars, and fish that can defend themselves from fin nippers.
