It's been awhile....pics mostly thorichthys

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks. The robertsoni are growing painfully slow as expected. They are super fast and catching a pic of a 2" fish in a 150g is tough lol.
I had to separate the deppii. I was warned of this on here.

Wow, now that is the largest I have seen... awesome fish man

Thanks, he was pretty aggressive. He also wouldn't flare gills or lip lock. He'd just go for the belly to kill. I had swordtails in with him and he bit a few in half.
Unfortunately he died unexpectedly.

Sorry to hear about that, so puzzling when fish just die, you always want to find the reason... Unfortunately I think a lot of the time fish have issues that we cannot externally diagnose. Hopefully your new guy gets just as large over time.

It is weird when they are healthy and active one day then dead the next. No signs of illness. I am wondering if was the temps. I have a hard time keeping up the temps down in the summers. The water got up to 80f, which is pretty high for CA cichlids.

Hmm, I keep my CA cichlids at around 80* in the summer (it gets hot on 3rd floor where tanks are) with seemingly no ill effects. I have had them at 86* for a week or two as well to treat ich. I would be a little surprised if that is what killed him, though anything is possible I suppose.
