Hey MFK,
I need some help because I'm absolutely paralyzed by choice right now. I'm setting up a 120g build to replace my 40g FOWLR but I cannot decide on a fish to showcase. I'm looking for a big cichlid, 12"-18", that I can pair and possibly breed. I'm shutting down a SW tank for this so I'd like something on the unique or showy side. I'm having my first child in March so it also has to be an undemanding fish because time for maintainence will be limited. I can spend some good money but not hundreds so it can't be too rare of a fish. I've kicked around the idea of Vieja or Polleni, I've thought about Oscars, and Jaguars, and Green Terrors, I've considered Texas, and Midas, and Flowerhorns. This could well be my last aquarium build for 20 years so I need to get this choice right but I just can't decide.

What would you do if you were me?

Pairing big cichlids in a tank that size could be risky but Lone fish will be fine here are some options
Synspilum 14-18inches (very colourful)
Flowerhorn 12-16inches
Trimac 12-16inches
Pair of Salvini cichlids 6-8inches
Pair of nicarguensis 8-10inches
Motaguense cichlid 12-14inches
Buttikoferi tilapia 13-16inches (very aggressive)
Grammodes cichlid (mini dovii) 12-14inches
Pair of Black Diamond cichlid 11-13 inches (beautiful fish but rare)
Pair of green terrors 8-12 inches
Female festae/red terror 12-16inches

Is this a 4' 120? I would look for fish that max around 12", and I wouldn't get something shy if it's going to be alone.
Some ideas:
Breidohri
Lyonsi
Tetracanthus
Carpintis "Escondido", "rio Hondo", etc.
Motaguense

Friedrichsthalli la cieba are nice.
As above tho, trimac or Midas are a good option.
What about neets?
